Women's History Resources in Archives and Special Collections

nterviews, narration, and archival photographs tell the story of the Y.W.C.A. of Summit County, Ohio from its founding in 1901 to the dissolution of the organization in 2005

A panel of five women, each representing a different aspect of music as a profession, from the Akron/Cleveland area, explore the varied contributions of women to the world of music.

Tour visits sites associated with women of Summit County who made significant contributions to the history of the area and the nation, to the advancement of civil rights and women's rights, and to the health, education, and well-being of the citizens of the area. Individuals honored include Salaria Kea O'Reilly, Sojourner Truth, Mary Pauline Edgerton, Ruth McKenney, Margaretha Gerhardt Burkhardt, Mary E. Gladwin, Blanche Hower, Margaret Chapman Barnhart, Mary Campbell, Judith A. Resnik. Also honored are the women of the Akron Soldiers' Aid Society, Women's Temperance Crusade, and the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Akron, Ohio.
