Recordings from the School of Music

This guide describes how to access recordings made by the School of Music since 1974.

HOW TO FIND OUT WHAT RECORDINGS ARE AVAILABLE

There are two main groups of recordings:  Tangible recordings (1974-2014) and online recordings (2014+ ).

TANGIBLE RECORDINGS, 1974-2014 (reel-to-reel tapes, DAT cassettes, CDs, DVDs): Information on over 6,000 recordings is available in the Library's catalog.  You can search for featured soloists or ensembles.  You can also browse entries by time period.  For help with searching, contact David Procházka at davidp@uakron.edu (330-972-6260).

ONLINE RECORDINGS, 2014+ (audio and video): For information about online recordings, contact Archives and Special Collections at archives@uakron.edu (330-972-7670).

CURRENT RECORDINGS: Recordings from the School of Music are archived at the end of every spring semester and will not be accessible through Archives and Special Collections until then.  For current students and faculty members of the School of Music, copies of recitals will be sent to the recital organizer after it has been processed.

PROGRAMS:  Printed programs are also available for browsing through Archives and Special Collections.  Looking at these can sometimes be an effective way to locate and identify desired recordings.
