Information on how to use the library's primary search interface

UA Books

Written Instructions

  1. On the Search results page, locate the specific book you want.
  2. Use the "Access Options" drop-down menu to select "View Catalog Record". This will transfer you to the UA Library Catalog record page.
  3. Select the "Request" button. This will prompt the login screen.
  4. Log-in with your UANet ID and password if you are a UA student, staff, or faculty. Community patrons will log-in as guests with their full name and library ID number.
  5. Select your preferred pickup method from the drop-down menu, then select the "Submit" button.
  6. You should receive a confirmation that your request was successful! Along with an email with instructions on how to checkout the book.

OhioLINK Books

Written Instructions

  1. While browsing ZipSearch, locate the specific book you want in the results list
  2. To see if a book is available through OhioLINK, look at the institution listed under "Location." Books not listed with a "Bierce," "Science," "Law," or "Wayne" location are OhioLINK books.
  3. Use the "Access Options" drop-down menu to select "View Catalog Record". This will transfer you to the OhioLINK record page.
  4. In the OhioLINK record page, copies that have a status of "AVAILABLE" can be requested. Also, books currently held at UA cannot be requested.
  5. To request the book, select on the "Request" button under the "Library Holdings" header. This will prompt the login screen.
  6. Select the "U of Akron" from the drop-down menu to login with your University of Akron information.
  7. Log-in with your UANET ID and password if you are a UA student, staff, or faculty. Community patrons and alumni will log-in as guests with their full name and library card ID number.
  8. Select your preferred pickup method from the drop-down menu, then select the "Submit" button.
  9. You should receive a confirmation that your request was successful.
