Basic Circulation Functions

Sierra Circulation Functions – Basic

When you log into Sierra, the initial screen will look like this:

 

Checking out locally owned and OhioLINK items:

Sierra functions for circulation can be found by looking for the FUNCTION dropdown menu at the top right of the Sierra main screen.

Basic Circulation function options are:

To check out locally owned items, select Check Out (Circulation Desk)

  • Enter a ‘b’ and scan the patron ZipCard barcode in the entry box at the top left of the Sierra main screen (preferred method), or
  • Enter a ‘n’ and enter the patron last name, first name

 

 

  • The patron record will load

  • To check out a locally owned item, scan the barcode in the entry box at the top left of the screen. To check out an OhioLINK item (or any non-local item), enter a ‘b’ first and then scan the item barcode in the entry box

  • The items with due dates will show up in the middle of the patron record.

 

Checking in items:

To check in items, select Check-In (No Patron)

  • To check in a locally owned item, scan the item barcode. To check in an OhioLINK item or non-locally owned item, enter a ‘b’ and then scan the item barcode

  • The item, patron name, and any fines will show up in a list of items checked in. PLEASE clear all fines by following the Clear Fines instructions
