LibCal Outlook Integration

This guide will describe how to integrate your outlook calendar with LibCal allowing you to create an way to schedule appointments through your profile in any Lib-Application.

Appointment Button Settings

LibCal Appointments Widget Tab

Under the Embed the My Scheduler Widget in external websites panel, use the Users to Show option to select which users to show in the widget. This limits who can be booked via this widget.

  • Only Myself: limits patrons to only seeing your personal availability times, but across all of your locations. (If you belong to multiple locations, users will first see a location selection page.)
  • Only Myself, but at a particular location/group: similar to Only Myself, but patrons will only see your availability at the location and group you select.
  • All users with Appointments enabled: this allows someone to book appointments with any available librarian. (If multiple locations are set up, users will first see a location selection page.)
  • All users with Appointments enabled at a particular location/group: similar to All users with appointments enabled, but patrons will only see availability times at the location and group you select.

If you chose the option to display availability at a particular location/group, use the Location and Group dropdowns to select which location and group to display.

  • If you selected Only myself or All users with Appointments enabled, the Location and Group dropdowns will not appear.

Set the Page Title, which appears at the top of the pop-up window.

Use the Width of popup window field to set the width of the window in pixels.

Use the Height of popup window field to set the height of the window in pixels.

In the Button Text field, enter the label you'd like to appear on the button. This is what users will click to launch the widget's pop-up window.

Use the Button Text Color field to set the font color of the button text. If you know the exact hex code value for the color, you can type it in. Otherwise, click in the field to use the built-in color picker.

Use the Button Color field to set the background color of the button. If you know the exact hex code value for the color, you can type it in. Otherwise, click in the field to use the built-in color picker.

Use the Button Border Color to set the border color of the button. If you know the exact hex code value for the color, you can type it in. Otherwise, click in the field to use the built-in color picker.

If (and only if) you will be embedding this widget in a page that does not already include jQuery, enable the Include jQuery Library checkbox.

DO NOT include jQuery if you will be embedding this inside of LibGuides or any other Springy product. jQuery is already loaded in all of our apps, so including it a second time will cause jQuery-powered elements (such as page menus) to stop working.

As you make changes to the widget settings, a working preview widget will appear -- feel free to give it a try!

Click inside the Embed Code text box to highlight it. Then, copy the code by either:

  • Pressing CTRL + C on your keyboard
  • Right-clicking on it and selecting "Copy"

Creating a button for appointments and add that button to your profile

Appointments scheduler widgets allow you to embed a button that users can click to schedule an appointment with you, which can be especially handy in your LibGuides profile boxes! When a user clicks on the customizable button, a window will pop up allowing them to view your available appointment times and book an appointment.
