Beyond the Picket Fence: The Places and Spaces We Call Home

A LibGuide to compliment "Beyond the Picket Fence: The Places and Spaces We Call Home," an exhibit currently on display at the National Museum of Psychology.

When Home is Taken

Home isn't always permanent. The structures we live in can be swept away by floods, tornadoes, or other natural disasters. We may be forced to flee our homes in times of war or hardship, as millions of refugees have done throughout history. Others may leave their homes willingly to move to a new country, but still mourn the homes they leave behind. Losing home can be a time of trauma and psychological distress, but also a time of hopefulness for the possibilities a new home brings.
