News Literacy: About News

Welcome!

Welcome to our News Literacy guide! We thought it would be a good idea to put some resources into one place to help you navigate news of any kind, and in any form. Based on the definition above, news is simply "newly received or noteworthy information," but nowadays we seem to be barraged more by the former than the latter. When is news noteworthy? When it confirms or contradicts our own perspective on the world? Is "fake news" news? Does it matter if it's fake? How can I decide for myself?

This guide provides a number of resources and links to other guides on the same topic to give you some tools to evaluate news and come to your own conclusions.
