EXAMPLE: Locating Open Textbooks in the University Libraries Catalog

Instructions:

1. Start your search at the UA Libraries Catalog.

2. For example, type the phrase "Open Textbook Library" in the keyword search box. Open Textbook Library is a textbook repository.

3. If you are looking for a specific discipline, add it to the search. For example: "open textbook library" AND physics

4. View the results.

Search for Textbooks in OER Textbook Repositories

These open textbooks are free or low-cost and modestly priced for downloads, reading online, and for some, the printed copy may be purchased at a low price:

Open Textbook Library
The Open Textbook Library is part of the Open Textbook Network (OTN) and includes reviews, from the University of Minnesota.
OpenStack
Peer-reviewed, openly licensed college textbooks that are free to read online and available in print at a low price.
MERLOT
"Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) is a curated resource of free and online textbooks." Limit your search to "Open (Access) textbook"
Milne Open Textbooks
"open textbooks authored and peer-reviewed by State University of New York (SUNY) faculty and staff."
Open Access books on JSTOR
Lumen Learning
An education technology company that partners with higher education institutions to create accessible course materials utilizing OER.
