If you don't want to have to go the library website every time you want to access an online resource then here are a couple of alternate methods with instructions.
Connecting to The University of Akron's VPN will make it appear as if you are on campus. For instructions on how to setup the VPN visit the VPN Setup Guide
Instead of copying and pasting URLs from the browser address bar, many webpages have a share option with a permalink that will often work better.
EBSCO databases (like Academic Search Complete) have a share dropdown on the right hand side of their search results where one of the options is to copy a permalink that you can bookmark.
Films on Demand has a share option right below their videos.
After selecting 'Share' select the Embed/Link tab and there will be a 'Record URL' that can be copied and bookmarked.
If you prefer using Google Scholar for your research you can add The University of Akron as your library so that you have access to UA resources while searching Google Scholar. You can do this by using this link Google Scholar with UA Resources. Or you can select The University of Akron in Google Scholar's Library links setting. To do this follow the below steps:
If you want to bookmark a link but you notice it doesn't have the University Library proxy prefix you can add the proxy yourself. Just put, "https://login.ezproxy.uakron.edu:2443/login?url=" at the beginning of your URL.
For example, "https://www.jstor.org" would become "https://login.ezproxy.uakron.edu:2443/login?url=https://www.jstor.org"
