Potential Implications

Some academic social networks (ASNs) (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu and others) give authors the option to upload their publications and presentations. Before sharing your works, be sure to check with your journal's policy about uploading the full text of your work, which may be a violation of the publisher's copyright permissions.
Similar to other social networks, ASNs might collect reader's information without your knowledge.
