Title - Access and Discovery Specialist
Department - UL Technical Services
Manage the library's electronic resources, making sure that they can be discovered by our users including through our discovery layer (ZipSearch) and our A-Z Database List. Also make sure that users can access the resources they discover by setting up access with our providers, managing our EZProxy instance, setting up our link resolver, and managing/updating other links. Also responsible for UA's library service platform and helping managing all aspects and additional products that come with it.
Started as a student assistant position in 2010 as a freshman year. Worked at the Service Desk until graduation. Afterward, accepted a full-time library specialist position in Technical Services. This role involved Acquisitions and Systems work, including ordering monographs and providing assistance with various library technologies. In 2018, promoted to a Library Service Coordinator, responsible for the library's discovery layer and helping with other aspects of managing electronic resources. Started current position as an Access and Discovery Specialist in 2023, assuming current responsibilities.
