Helpful Encyclopedias

Encyclopedia entries are helpful by giving a scholarly overview of a topic and a bibliography for further research.  Entries for subject-based encyclopedias may be lengthy and in depth.

NEW!  This is the same encyclopedia that we used in class, but you can now link directly to it!

Use this to look at your overall topic and get ideas of how to narrow it.  It also provides a fair amount of content, so it could be used a source itself.  It also has bibliographies, so it might help you find other sources.

Music and dance, especially in traditional culture, is often intertwined.  Students may find information regarding dance in these thorough volumes.
