About

This guide was created in recognition of the sesquicentennial of The University of Akron. It contains information regarding resources in University Archives that document the history of the institution. The University Archives, which are a part of Archives and Special Collections (formerly Archival Services) of University Libraries, are the official and final repository for historical records and other resources that document the history of the University and its predecessors, including Buchtel College and the Municipal University of Akron, dating back to our founding in 1870. The University Archives collects, preserves, and provides access to these resources so they are available for institutional needs and for research and study by students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
