The Ninth Air Force is a numbered air force of the United States Air Force Air Combat Command that carried out tactical bombing and ground support missions during World War II. The 9AF saw action in both the European Theater and North African Campaign of the war. The 9AF saw action in following combat engagements during the Korean War, Vietnam War, and Operation Desert Storm.

The Ninth Air Force Association was originally established in 1990 after several representatives met to discuss the preservation of knowledge about the 9AF and its efforts. It was decided an organization that recorded both individual and unit records would best honor and support the memory and sacrifices of the 9AF.
