Sports Governing Bodies
There are many sports governing bodies. Only a sample is listed here.
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), regulates the use of banned substances, eligibility, recruiting, and many other things that have to do with sports. Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, 20 U.S.C. 1681 et seq. is significant to scholastic and collegiate sports in that it prohibits sex discrimination in sports programs of schools that receive federal funds. Established in 1999 as an international independent agency composed and funded equally by the sport movement and governments of the world. Administers the World Anti-Doping Code, as well as maintains International Standards such as the Prohibited List of substances banned in sports.
