National Hispanic Heritage Month

University Libraries  at The University of Akron is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting select print books, streaming videos, eBooks, and streaming audio from our collections.  In the spirit of acknowledging and celebrating inclusive stories, we invite you to learn about the lives and experiences of  Hispanic authors, composers, characters, and historical figures by exploring the resources we've highlighted on this guide.  If you're on campus during September and October please stop by and visit our display at Bierce Library.

National Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. The observation began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week* under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988.* The theme for 2024 is "Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together"
