Brightspace Information Literacy Modules

University of Akron librarians have been busy developing Brightspace content to teach information literacy, research skills, and lifelong learning skills that students can transfer to other courses and apply beyond the University.  These online lessons via Brightspace can be assigned in part or whole by course instructors or enterprising students can self-enroll.  Students will get a certificate of completion for each following a brief assessment. The URLs give you direct access to enroll in the course. You can share these URLs with students in your courses.

We currently have four courses available for Brightspace enrollment:

University Libraries provides resources, services, and expertise to support and enhance teaching, learning, and research. 

Help with your courses:

  • New Equipment is available to assist with online instruction: we have added eight USB mics, and six Intuos Graphics Drawing Tablets. These items circulate only to faculty. In addition, 15 Webcams can circulate to any student, staff or faculty.

Expanded access with contactless services:


Faculty Borrowing Privileges

  • Books from the general collection can be checked out for 150 days.
  • Media can be checked out for 14 days. 
  • Curriculum Center materials can be checked out for 14 days.
  • OhioLINK books can be checked out for 42 days. OhioLINK media can be checked out for 7 days. 
  • UA faculty can borrow a maximum of 150 items (20 media materials).

You can renew most items online by logging into your library account.
