Findings Ebooks

There are a number of avenues you can take to find ebooks in the library collection. The following are some suggestions of the most common and useful places to look. Most of our ebooks should be discoverable by searching in the University of Akron Library catalog. (Hint: If you do an "advanced search" you can limit your search by "material type" and select "electronic book" to limit your search to ebooks only!)

However, if you haven't found what you need in the UA catalog or if you prefer to use databases directly (which have their own built-in search capabilities), please try the following ebook databases!

Open (free!) Textbooks via the Open Textbook Network -- Open textbooks are textbooks that have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed. These books have been reviewed by faculty from a variety of colleges and universities to assess their quality. These books can be downloaded for no cost, or printed at low cost. All textbooks are either used at multiple higher education institutions; or affiliated with an institution, scholarly society, or professional organization. (OTN)
